Residential Homes

RABI owns and runs two residential homes, Beaufort House in Burnham-on-Sea and Manson House in Bury St Edmunds. They provide safe and secure long term care for older members of the farming community. Many residents find they have a farming background in common.

RABI has associations with other charities who own residential and nursing homes and sheltered housing throughout the country.

If you would like more information on either Beaufort or Manson House please contact the homes.  Or you can view pdf versions of brochures on both homes by clicking on the names above.

Beaufort House

Beaufort House is set in two acres on the outskirts of Burnham on Sea. This former boarding school has been extensively modernised although it still maintains its Victorian splendour.

Beaufort House is very proud to announce that they have recently been awarded 3 stars following a Quality Care Commission check-up. This is the highest award achievable equating to an excellent rating.

24-hour residential care is provided, while the residents are encouraged to remain as independent as possible. The home has 32 rooms all of which are en-suite and all have television points and an emergency call system.

Facilities include a TV lounge, bar lounge, conservatory, hairdressing salon and spa bath and therapy room.

In addition to the main house there are 12 sheltered flats for more active residents.  A recent addition to the stunning gardens has been a summerhouse where residents can relax.

Award for Beaufort Gardens

Autumn at Beaufort House was particulalry beautiful this year thanks to the hard work of gardener David Harrison and his under gardener, resident Delmene Daniel.

The gardens, which have always been appreciated by the residents and admired by visitors, received wider recognition this year when they won first place in the Nursing Home division of the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge 'Britain in Bloom' competition.

Christmas Coffee Morning

The annual Beafort House coffee morning was a great success, provinding plenty of Christmas fare and raising £1,536.50 for the residents' amenity fund. Home manager Sue Luck described it as a wonderful morning thanks to all the help and support everyone gave. As always the raffle, which has been run by Beaufort House resident Mrs Bertha King for the past 23 years, was a popular attraction.

Celebrating Her Century

There were celebrations at Beaufort House to mark resident Miss Margaret Axford's 100th birthday. Margaret is pictured seated next to her brother Bob who is also a resident, with members of staff and chief executive Paul Burrows. As well as receiving a card from The Queen she was treated to a spendid cake made by Kelly Woodland, one of the cooks and care assistant Maggie Chave.

Manson House

Manson House is conveniently located near the centre of the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds. The home is located in a quiet residential area of the town with the shops and other amenities a short walk away.

The home comprises 22 single rooms. There are also 19 sheltered flats. 24-hour residential care is also provided.

Facilities include a library, hobbies room, keep-fit classes and regular outings and entertainment.

Manson House Celebrates Christmas

Manson House had a busy December with the Christmas Fayre which raised £1090 for the amenities fund despite the snow.  The residents were entertained by the choir of Westley Middle School. This was followed by a party tea with music,a carol service,an afternoon of swing,a panto (Dick Whittington meets Top Cat)! and a New Years Eve Party.

The residents certainly have some stammina! The Christmas meals were delicious and of course we had the lovely donation of fruit and veg delivered by Rob and Rick from From My Farm.

Recognition for Staff Loyalty

There were celebrations at Manson House when residents and visitors gathered for the presentation of loyalty awards to eight members of staff who, between them, had worked at the home for a total of 147 years.

Presenting the awards, RABI trustee Michael Paske, chairman of the Manson House committee, spoke of how the dedication and care that they gave was appreciated by both the residents and the RABI trustees.
