Worcestershire NFU AGM

David Glover and Andrew Baxter of the Worcestershire RABI committee were on hand at their recent AGM to present regional officer, Kate Roberts with a cheque for £10,000. This was raised by supporters in the county during 2011.

Adam Henson was on hand to help draw the winning tickets for the South West raffle which has taken place at shows and events across the region this summer.

NFU RABI Dinner

October 2011

The annual Worcestershire National Farmers Union (NFU) dinner in aid of the
Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) took place in October. Held at the Pear Tree Inn & Country Hotel in Worcester, around 160 guests from the farming fraternity supported the charity event.

This years’ guest speaker was Mrs Lorna Tyson, MBE who amused the audience with her speech titled “Farmers are a strange breed”. Also entertaining the audience was auctioneer, Mr. Clive Roads who helped raise £1901 from the 16 promise lots. Auction prizes on the evening included a weekend cottage let, a meal for two, a round of golf and a balloon flight just to mention a few.

Worcestershire RABI Treasurer, Mr. Andrew Baxter, commented, “It has been a very successful event, making over £7,500 for the needy cause. Huge thanks must go to all those involved, we received several large donations, plus a selection of excellent auction and raffle prizes”.

Donations received on the night included £3000 from Steve Morris who, yet again, completed the Great North Run and £700 from Pershore NFU. Three staff members from the Barclays Worcester branch attended the evening, helping with the raffle and generously match-funded by £750.

Concert in the Barn

Over 80 people gathered at The Curradine Barns, Shrawley by kind permission of Mr & Mrs John Ballard on Friday 24th June. The venue and atmosphere was magical with some excellent performances from soloist Jennifer Simpson and the Worcester Male Voice Choir. Proceeds of £955 were raised for RABI.
