Manson House Hog Roast

September 2009

The annual Manson House hog roast was held on the 6th September and was once again well supported by residents, staff and invited family and friends. The excellent hog was cooked by James Stamper, ably assisted by Brian Carless.

Head of Home, Carol Smith said "it was wonderful to see so many friends and family of the residents at this years hog roast, the weather has again been good to us and the staff at the home have worked hard to provide a tremendous salad bar, and sweets table. James and Brian have done an excellent job carving the pigs. Thank you to all who have helped and attended."

Great Wall of China Talk

18 September 2009

Hardy trekkers Bob Archibald and James Stamper, who walked the Great Wall of China for RABI in 2007 gave a talk about their experiences to around 60 people at Athelington Hall, Horham.

The evening included a hog roast and raffle with all proceeds going to Farming Help.  £920 was raised which will be split between the three charities.

Manson House Summer Fayre

May 2009

The Summer Fayre at Manson House was as ever a great success with many friends and general public attending. Residents, staff and volunteers are well practiced in extracting cash for cakes, bric a brac, tombola and raffles. All the money raised is used for residents outings and to help towards 'extras' at the home.

Woodbridge Tennis Tournament

June 2009

The suffolk committee had a very successful tennis tournament recently. The weather was kind and everything went well.

With 26 players, which is down on previous years. This meant that we had two divisions instead of four and everyone played more tennis. In one division each pair played 35 games and in the other they played 42 games.

There was then two semi-finals and a final. Those in the final played about 60 games during the day - the equivalent of over 6 sets with a 6-3 score! The lunch was provided by the committee and was delicious.

Annual Sunday Lunch

April 2009

The Suffolk County Committee held their annual Sunday Lunch at Stradbrook Community Centre on the 26th April. 120 people sat down to a splendid lunch prepared and served by the committee. They were then entertained by Steve Western from Weatherquest who told the audience of the many and varied forms of weather forecasting. Steve can often be heard on Radion Suffolk. A big thank you must go to the 5 NFU offices in Suffolk for donating the raffle prizes.
