Christmas Quiz Night

December 2011

RABI beneficiary, Mrs Buckle organised another successful Christmas quiz night at Glooston Village Hall. This has become an annual event and this year they raised £700 for RABI.

A big thank you must go to Mrs Buckle and her helpers.

Blaston Show Cheque Presentation

October 2011

Blaston Agricultural society held their AGM this Autumn following a successful Summer show in June. RABI was the main chosen charity of the show along with other local charities and a total of £4,700 was distributed to all the charities with RABI receiving £2,500 which will be used to support local Leicestershire farming families.

Leicestershire Social Evening

October 2011

The Leicestershire RABI committee held a social evening at the Langton Arms, Church Langton to recruit new committee members and launch a ‘friends of RABI’ network.

The aim was to create a wider circle of friends and supporters to help promote fundraising events and highlight the importance of RABI support services to the farming community.

St Giles in the Field Harvest Festival

October 2011

Leicestershire RABI committee member Simon Packe-Drury-Lowe organized the third annual St Giles in the field harvest festival service in mid October to raise money for RABI.

After the service a cheese and wine supper was served sponsored by Long Clawson dairies and Charles Geary’s bakeries. Approx £800 was raised for RABI.

East Midlands Food Festival

October 2011

Regional officer, Milly Wastie worked in conjunction with Leicestershire food links to promote local food and RABI support services at the East Midlands food festival over the heat wave weekend in October!

Children had the opportunity to make fruit tarts from scratch and have them cooked on site to take home later that day. It was also a fantastic opportunity to gather recipes from local food producers to include in the Leicestershire RABI cookery book.

   

Rocking Sheep Raffle

July 2011

Congratulations to Mrs Walker of West Langton Nr Market Harborough who won the RABI rocking sheep when she recently visited Blaston agricultural show and purchased a ticket from the RABI stand.

The sheep raffle has been touring around three Leicestershire shows throughout the Summer; Blaston, Market Bosworth and Ashby.

Thank you to everyone who took part and the money raised will support Leicestershire farming families.

Ferret Racing Evening

July 2011

The Leicestershire RABI ferret racing evening went down a storm at Fenn Lane Farm, Upton once again.

Back by popular demand the local farming community got together to have a flutter on which ferret would run the fastest down the circuit as well as added attraction on pig racing later on that evening.

A huge thank you to Alf and Jill Oliver for all their hard work and allowing the use of the facilities and to Veronica and Brian Sutton for assisting with arrangements, selling tickets and ensuring the evening ran smoothly.

The proceeds of just over £2,000 were split between RABI and the Country Trust.
