Mayor of Kettering Raises over £3,000 for R.A.B.I.

May 2013

Cllr Jim Hakewill of Braybrooke, Northamptonshire stood down from his position of Mayor of Kettering this week and presented a cheque to his chosen charity the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution of over £3,000.

During his tenure, Jim spent time talking to people about the work of the R.A.B.I. , hosting various functions and events to raise funds and supporting important farming campaign such as farmhouse breakfast week and Great British Beef Week.

The funds come at a time when there are a huge increase of calls to the charity with farmers who are struggling due to the recent bad weather and poor harvest of 2012. The huge donation will be used to support local farming families in Northamptonshire who require help from the charity in the form of grant payments for items such as supermarket vouchers, fuel allowances, mobility equipment or practical support.
