Burns Night

January 2012

The Nottinghamshire RABI committee for the second time, held a burns night supper at Manor Farm, Carburton by kind permission of Robert Bower. Guests enjoyed a two course haggis supper with all the traditional trimmings as well as being entertained by Robert Bower who took great honour in becoming a true Scotsman for the night. The evening raised £450 and has become a great way for the committee to put on a stress free, low cost event for friends and family whilst having some fun and raising funds for RABI.

Coast to Coast Cycle

Well done to Peter Brumpton, who successfully completed his three-day 174 miles cost-to-coast (Bridlington to Morecambe) cycle ride without, he reports "too many problems". Although he does say that the hill out of Pateley Bridge onto the Pennines/Yorkshire Dales was something else! Only two of the party of 31 managed to climb it without stopping or pushing their bikes. Peter has raised over £900 for RABI.

Summer Party

1 July 2011

On the 1st July, 300 people attended a Summer party at the home of Tony Strawson, the former Newark and Notts show president. The party was organized to celebrate the success of the show and raise money for RABI.

Guests enjoyed music, a hog roast, Thaymar ice cream and refreshments as well as the opportunity to bid in the 8 lot auction and raffle. The evening raised £7,400 for RABI. A huge thank you must go to Tony and his partner Helen for hosting the wonderful evening at Hexgreave Hall with support from the agricultural society.

   

Newark & Notts Show

14-15 May 2011

The first spring show for the East Midlands region was of course the Newark and Notts county show on 14th and 15th May. Taking pride of place on the RABI stand was Milly’s new version of a collecting tin… a wishing well, which caught children and their parents attention to make a wish and donate to RABI. Even the show president Tony Strawson made a wish hoping for two dry days at the show!

 

Cross Country Endurance Ride

2011

Robert Bower of the Nottinghamshire RABI committee along with Christine Coxon and Ellie White rode in a four counties endurance horse ride in aid of RABI.  Over five days they covered 120 miles across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northants and Leicestershire finishing at Oakham Vets.  with money still being collected over £800 has been raised so far.
