Cornish Ball

The second County Farmer's Ball held by the Cornwall RABI committee in the members' pavilion on the Royal Cornwall Showground attracted 88 guests who enjoyed an excellent meal and auction. Among the many lots auctioned were a VIP day out with the Kings Troop, Royal Horse Artillery; tea on the terrace of the House of Commons; and a guided tour of a local vineyard. Thanks to the sterling efforts of Chris Riddle and his office staff, who made the evening a success, nearly £3,500 was raised on the night.

Cornwall Show

A near record number of people attended this year's show and it was an equally successful time for the hard-working Cornwall committee. With a 'shop and drop' service, tractor treasure hunt game and an extremely talented face-painter on the stand, it was rarely quiet, even on the Saturday when the heavens opened. The icing on the cake came when ASDA decided to auction off their meat display at the end of the show giving the proceeds to RABI. Overall, nearly £1,000 was raised and thanks must go to all the committee members, to Jenny Marquis of 'Brushstrokes', and to Cornwall Farmers for providing the ride-on toy tractor.
