Farmyard Sale

The shone for about the first time this year as Devon Committee member Philip Wrayford rallied the team to have a spring clear out and get rid of tools and various implements that they considered junk but might be just what someone else was looking for. Held by kind permission of Rendells Auctioneers the lots raised over £1,000 for R.A.B.I. Inevitably some went home with more than they came!

Support for South West Farmers

April 2013

Over 100 farmers attended at free day to hear what help was available to them in Devon & Cornwall from the various organisations that support the farming industry. RABI were joined by FCN, Rural Focus and South West TB Advisory Service. Other organisations such as NFU and Dartmoor and Exmoor Hill Farmers Project were also on hand to offer support and advice.
The event was held at Lifton Farm shop which provided delicious food as well as being an excellent example of a small family farm that has diversified and changed with the times.

 

Waitrose Collections

If you shop in Waitrose have you voted for R.A.B.I. to become a charity of choice for your local store? If sufficient people suggest a particular charity it can qualify as one of those chosen to receive shopper's tokens for a month.

R.A.B.I. was on the list in the Okehampton Waitrose in December and the collection raised £1,186. Not a bad return for several supporters who had filled in the proposal form. So next time you are in your Waitrose store please spend a few minutes proposing R.A.B.I.

Devon YFCs Fundraising

Both the County office and several clubs in Devon have been working hard in support of RABI this autumn. Newton St Cyres YFC were pleased to present a cheque to Regional Manager Jenni Thompson for £250 raised from hosting a Jubilee Beacon earlier in the year, whilst Dartmouth YFC presented a cheque to Devon Committee member John Yeoman for £1839.04. Dartmouth had raised money throughout the year for RABI from a number of activities including a muck run and disco.

Finally, Devon YFC County office organised a splendid Harvest Festival service in Exeter Cathedral with Devon NFU, it was a lovely autumnal evening and well attended by many where RABI were honoured to be selected as the chosen beneficiaries of the service collection.
