Taste of Gloucestershire

RABI was the chosen charity for the inaugural Taste of Gloucestershire Food and Farming Awards held at Cheltenham Racecourse. The best of Gloucestershire's food and drinks industry, including farms, producers and restaurants were competing for 13 awards which were presented by Gloucestershire's first lady of cooking Prue Leith.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjoro

An incredible challenge was completed by Lucy Ratcliffe, a farmers daughter from Gloucestershire who recently climbed up Mount Kilimanjaro. The climb took 5 days to reach the summit including a grueling 18 hour climb on the last day and then 3 days to get back down. Lucy said ‘It was the hardest thing I have ever done, and I was lucky as only 12 out of the 16 made it to the top. We were all extremely ill with altitude sickness but somehow we found the strength to carry on.’ Lucy raised sponsorship for two charities and has collected £700 for RABI. Well done Lucy and many grateful thanks for your wonderful support!

Ladies in Beef Raise Money for RABI

Gloucestershire farmers Tanya Robbins and Sarah Righton joined the campaign to promote Ladies in Beef and ran a raffle for a piece of beef which was kindly donated by Old Farm Shop, Dorn, Moreton in Marsh.

The raffle at the North Cotswold Hunt Point to Point on Easter Monday coincided with British Beef Week. Ladies in Beef is a new organisation of female beef farmers who care passionately about British beef.

It was formed to help promote and drive awareness of the quality and versatility of British beef to consumers. £356 was raised at the event and donated to RABI

Royal Agricultural College & Voyce Pullen

The Royal Agricultural College and Voyce Pullen helped to launch the Gateway project in Gloucestershire and Cirencester Livestock Centre.

Stocks of leaflets were handed out to the farmers there that day and hopefully RABI may be able to help someone. For further information about the Gateway Project contact the welfare department at RABI head office on 01865 727888 or email grants@rabi.org.uk.
