Regional Officer, Central

Fay Dewey

It's always a pleasure working with our volunteers who continue to help us raise funds. The central region has a variety of fundraisers taking place throughout the autumn. Among them is the annual Stratford Pony Ride on 14th September, followed by a metal detecting day at Hill Top Farm, Fosse Way on Sunday 21st September.

In Shropshire, Dearnford Lake at Whitchurch is organising a Festival of Fine Food Arts and Crafts. The event, whcih takes place on Saturday 20th September, is supporting the work of Welly Week and will see the committee involved in raft racing, welly wanging, a school's welly sculpture competition as well as best welly wearer and design a welly competitions. There will also be a clay shoot and plenty of stands showcasing the best in speciality local foods and crafts.

Worcestershire are busy organising their annual dinner. This year's speaker will be Peter Tinney, a farmer from the South West who will speak about his life growing up on a farm with slightly eccentric parents!

Four local amateur artists recently held an exhibition displaying up to 150 works, in watercolour, oil, acrylic and gouache, on the farm of Warwickshire committee member David Toone at Cropston Magna on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Profits from the event will be shared between RABI and the Hinkley Sunshine Club.
