Reading University

October 2008

South East Regional Officer Sally Field was presented with a cheque for over £2000 from the agriculture students at Reading University.

This year the annual 48 hour ploughing marathon-raising money for charity
took place from the 3rd to 5th March.

Two tractors and two ploughs were used and 35 students took part.

The ploughs were driven by both male and female drivers of all abilities.

In total 185 acres were ploughed at Reading University's farm CEDAR

Many thanks must be given to the suppliers of the machinery:

John Textor from Southern Harvesters for supplying a Claas Axion 830 and a
RABE 5 furrow reversible plough.

Dan Haliday from Oaks Brothers for supplying a New Holland 7030

Lister Wilder for providing a Kevernaland 5 Furrow reversible plough.

Sam Holt for supplying the fuel bowser.

Over all £2238.56 was raised for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent
Institution.

All participants had an enjoyable time and look forward to next year!

July 2006

Congratulations to the Berkshire team who joined forces with the Bucks/Oxon team and ran the London 10K for RABI. It was especially well done to you all given the extreme heat. The amount raised has not yet been finalised but watch this space for further details.
