Alresford Show

6 September 2008

It was a big disappointment on arriving at the Alresford Show to find out that due to the awful weather it has been cancelled.

A big thank you must go to Denys Ryder for rescuing me and my display equipment from the thick mud with his mule vehicle.

Let's hope that next years show will not be ruined by the weather!

Chichester Procession and Plough Belssing to Mark NFU Centenary

3 February 2008

Working horses and vintage tractors formed an eye-catching procession through Chichester to mark the centenary of the NFU.

The procession pulled up beside Chichester cathedral and delivered an antique plough for blessing at the Plough Sunday service inside the cathedral.

The event, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the leading trade association for farmers and growers, was organised by the West Sussex branches of the RABI and the NFU.

Agricultural vehicles, from the ten decades between 1908 and 2008, were driven from Chichester college to the cathedral.

Many thanks to everyone involved in pulling this event together especially to David Burden, chairman of the West Sussex committee.
